November 4th marked 17 years to the day of the first Open House of The Woodward in 1994. The Grand Re-Opening celebrated the new exterior renovations neccesitated by the May hail storm, including a red and brown tile roof, striped awnings, tall gothic street lamps and large lions' head urns. On November 4, 1994 you supported the Grand Opening of The Woodward. Gary and Karen first heard about The Woodward when Wintering in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico while having dinner at a local establishment. In discussing life, love and the pursuit of grandbabies, the Goodenoughs were telling how they drive from Michigan to Denver to see grandsons. Dan advised that, if ever there was time to stop in Topeka, they should visit this little bed and breakfast called The Woodward. So, to Dan and Gary and Karen, Freindships are the Best Ships!

According to City of Topeka Code Compliance, The Woodward Flats has to be distinquished as Flats (apartments) and not family-style B&B. Go figure!! Still fully adorable and complete with all bed-an-breakfast-style amenities, The Woodward Flats is a great option for those seeking a nicer and more relaxed lodging option while in Topeka for business or while making the move to our community. In addition, it must be announced that The Woodward Flats on Western is not technically part of The Woodward Inns on Fillmore, but it is renovated, furnished, and loved the same as the other properties owned by Elizabeth Taylor, homeowner and proprietress of The Woodward Inns on Fillmore. The Woodward Flats on Western sits immediately behind The Woodward. Currently available are The Side Flat (a queen sized apartment) and The Front Flat (a king sized apartment). CBS Crime Documentary "48 Hours" on Topeka Murder

CBS aired "48 Hours" telling the story of the unsolved slayings in 2002 of Karen Harkness and Michael Sisco. Some of the doumentary interviews and social events were filmed at The Woodward and The Woodward Max between 2008 and 2009. This episode is the first national TV filming including The Woodward Max. The Woodward has appeared on HGTV and HBO as well as regional and local TV.

WW II Documentary Filmed at The Woodward April 18

On April 18th a documentary filmed at The Woodward Inns in Topeka, Kansas about the WW II incident known as The Flintock Disaster, a tragedy that has been well written about and considered to be the greatest cover-up in Marine history. Marine Veterans Robert Lehnert and Kenneth Gunderson arrived from Colorado and Wisconsin for the filming. This Flintock Disaster documentary is produced by filmmaker Esther Luttrell. It's a brand New Year and this is The Woodward's first post on the new blog!! I have been renovating The Woodward since 1994 and it is FAB and finished! Since 2000, I have started renovating additional unloved houses in my block and converted them into the coolest B&B Inns - from luxurious mansion-style to simple, shabby-chic family style! Of course, I don't mean to sound boastful, but I am quite passionate about what I am doing and I get rave reviews from my neighborhood, my city and, of course, my guests who come from far and near.
