New Interior Enhancements at The Woodward Inn

After many years of building The Woodward Inns Village, The Woodward Inn is now seeing some mature updated enhancements.  The Dining Room has a slightly new look.  Also, The Sisters Room has a softened look to be more romantic in a South Pacific teal.

Dateline NBC Films Kingman Murder Interviews at The Woodward Inn - NEW airing date Oct. 11th

Dateline NBC has chosen The Woodward Inn for its location for filming Interviews for its upcoming episode on the Brett Seacat murder conviction earlier this Summer in Wichita.  Watch for air dates, confirmed  for Oct. 11th, or visit www.nbcnews.com.

CBS 48 Hours Episode Filmed at The Woodward Inns to rerun May 4th, 9pm

CBS has announced an additional airing of 48 Hours "My Dad's Killer", which recently premiered on CBS last Fall.  While The Woodward Inns are not involved in the murder story, CBS 48 Hours has used The Woodward Inns as a location for filming family interviews, attorney interviews and juror follow-up.  Thanks to Sara Ely Hulse and the whole CBS 48 Hours team for their work on the Mike Sisco/Karen Harness story.  Thanks also to D.A. Chad Taylor and his team for their hard work as well.

CBS 48 Hours Features The Woodward Inns in its Season Premier September 29th

A Special Toast by Gary Goodenough

"There are Good Ships and Wood Ships and Ships that Sail the Sea. But the Best Ships are Friendships... and that will always be!" by Daniel Kreiger, retired editor for Midwest Living Magazine as shared in a toast on October 25, 2009 at The Woodward breakfast table by Gary Goodenough. Gary and Karen first heard about The Woodward when Wintering in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico while having dinner at a local establishment. In discussing life, love and the pursuit of grandbabies, the Goodenoughs were telling how they drive from Michigan to Denver to see grandsons. Dan advised that, if ever there was time to stop in Topeka, they should visit this little bed and breakfast called The Woodward. So, to Dan and Gary and Karen, Freindships are the Best Ships!

CBS Crime Documentary "48 Hours" on Topeka Murder

CBS aired "48 Hours" telling the story of the unsolved slayings in 2002 of Karen Harkness and Michael Sisco. Some of the doumentary interviews and social events were filmed at The Woodward and The Woodward Max between 2008 and 2009. This episode is the first national TV filming including The Woodward Max. The Woodward has appeared on HGTV and HBO as well as regional and local TV.

Mayor Honors proprietress for Renovations

The Topeka Mayor and City Council named September 15 as Elizabeth Taylor Day in honor of 15 years of renovations to most of one city block now know as The Woodward Inns on Fillmore. From one crumbling mansion in a very neglected inner city neighborhood, The Woodward Inns now comprises The (seven) Woodward Inns ranging from luxury to simple. The latest addition to the renovations is a 70's-style apartment building in the middle of The Woodward block. The Wisteria will remain moderate apartment living but will have an exterior renovation to a New Orleans-style and will offer peaceful, clean and safe living.

The Woodward Inns' Proprietress Named Ambassador

Elizabeth Taylor, owner and proprietress of The Woodward Inns has been named Ambassador of Historic Holliday Park, Topeka's second Historic Neighborhood, cornerstoned by The Woodward and Topeka High which was built to match The Woodward. This honor, bestowed for 2009/2010, is given annually to one man and one woman in the Historic Holliday park neighborhood to honor their commitment to historic preservation.

The Woodward Inns honored with 2009 Historic Preservation Award

The Woodward Inns on Fillmore have been honored with the 2009 Historic Preservation Award on May 16, 2009 by the Shawnee County Historic Society. The Historic Preservation Award is given each year to those who have made significant development of historic property.

WW II Documentary Filmed at The Woodward April 18

On April 18th a documentary filmed at The Woodward Inns in Topeka, Kansas about the WW II incident known as The Flintock Disaster, a tragedy that has been well written about and considered to be the greatest cover-up in Marine history. Marine Veterans Robert Lehnert and Kenneth Gunderson arrived from Colorado and Wisconsin for the filming. This Flintock Disaster documentary is produced by filmmaker Esther Luttrell. The Woodward Inns featured on Cable Travel Show - Lawrence, Kansas

The Lawrence Kansas Sunflower cable network featured The Woodward Inns on the travel show "Home and Away" with Lori Carson. Airing began March 16 and ran three a day that week. Watch for rerun tours of The Woodward and The Woodward Max.

It's a brand New Year and this is The Woodward's first post on the new blog!! I have been renovating The Woodward since 1994 and it is FAB and finished! Since 2000, I have started renovating additional unloved houses in my block and converted them into the coolest B&B Inns - from luxurious mansion-style to simple, shabby-chic family style! Of course, I don't mean to sound boastful, but I am quite passionate about what I am doing and I get rave reviews from my neighborhood, my city and, of course, my guests who come from far and near.
